Cloud Computing Technology
Cloud computing is Internet based computing, which delivers shared resources, software, business processes and information to computers and other devices on demand.
Generally, cloud computing clients do not own the physical infrastructure, instead avoiding capital expenditure by leasing or renting usage from a specialist Internet cloud provider.
Cloud computing users avoid capital expenditure (CapEx) on hardware, software, and services as they only pay a cloud provider for what they use.
Software as a Service (SaaS) is a software distribution model in which applications are hosted by a vendor or service provider and made available to customers over a network, typically the Internet.
Hardware as a Service (HaaS) is a service provision model for hardware that is defined differently in managed services and grid computing contexts. In managed services, HaaS is similar to licensing. In grid computing, HaaS is a pay as you use model.
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) describes one of the three main methods of accessing cloud computing based services. Organisations rent computing power and disk space and access them from desktop PCs through a private network or across the internet.
Process as a service (PRaaS), is a component of the cloud computing environment. The rapid development of PRaaS solutions will increase the attractiveness of cloud computing for organizations of all sizes and all sectors.
Platform as a service (PaaS) cloud computing has evolved to include platforms for building and running custom applications. The service must deliver compelling user experiences, with all the richness and live interactivity that consumers have been conditioned to expect. Platform as a Service (PaaS) will help business users to minimise operational costs and increase their productivity.
Business applications are moving to the cloud. The shift from traditional software models to the Internet has steadily gained momentum over the last few years.
The next decade of cloud computing promises new ways to collaborate anywhere at any time, using the PC, laptop and handheld mobile devices.
