The benefits of Mobotix IP CCTV cameras are clear to see!

The blurry images of the raiders on the jewellery store in Mayfair are yet another reminder of the need for all premises to operate high resolution CCTV cameras. The technology offers images that are far superior to analogue cameras complemented by a range of vision that reduces the number of cameras required to survey a property.

MOBOTIX is one of the leading manufacturers of megapixel digital CCTV cameras that produce an image resolution that is about thirty times clearer than traditional analogue cameras. Simply, MOBOTIX cameras provide far more detail within their 3.1 megapixels coverage. Analogue cameras offer about 0.4 megapixels when viewed live but on tape the recorded images slump down to only about 0.1 megapixels.

The quality of the MOBOTIX images enables more detail to be recorded with a wide-angle lens, therefore fewer cameras are required. Together with fewer cameras, the back-up systems are much simpler as a simple PC can view images from up to forty digital cameras. For recording purposes, each camera can be fitted with a USB or an SD card to make its own vision and sound recording or a separate, dedicated, video recording unit can be employed.

Currently, multiple analogue cameras use a traditional central storage unit to process and store low resolution images for later retrieval. The images have to be low resolution in order for so much information to be processed. Although the amount of processing power required from up to forty high resolution cameras is beyond the bandwidth of most centralised processing units the answer to the processing problem is a simple one.

Every MOBOTIX CCTV camera has its own computer and stores images and sound individually. A simple PC can view all the images through hardwire or wireless connections and at a later time, call up the recorded images from each camera’s own high-speed computer. In other words, the PC is for viewing the images not for storing them ensuring that the output resolution can be as recorded with no requirement to be downgraded to enable processing.

The key points are:

• MOBOTIX security systems require fewer cameras thanks to the quality of the image resolution as wide-angle lenses can be used; and

• MOBOTIX security systems do not require a powerful, centralised recording and image processing centre as each camera is its own computer.

When recorded images need to be viewed, a PC simply connects to the computer within the camera and views what was previously recorded on the computer monitor.

It is the quality of the recorded image that enables the MOBOTIX cameras to operate with a powerful, wide-angle lens relaying images that are sharp and easily read such as a vehicle’s index number.

MOBOTIX CCTV system is simpler in use and considerably more effective than analogue cameras for surveillance purposes and when examining pre-recorded images.

The average PC can monitor the images of up to forty MOBOTIX cameras and the images and, if required, the images can either be stored within each camera unit or on a separate digital video recorder.

MOBOTIX cameras have no moving parts

Fixed, wide-angle lenses recording at high resolution remove the need for the MOBOTIX camera to move. Robust and requiring minimal maintenance, the cameras can operate at temperatures as low as -30 Celsius and up to +60 Celsius.

Unlike most computers, the MOBOTIX cameras do not require heating systems or cooling fans and only require three watts of power to operate. For external use, the cameras are supplied weatherproofed.
